School Annual Education Report (AER) Cover Letter

Dear Parents and Community Members:

We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2010-2011 educational progress for Adams School.   The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality.  If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Mrs. Jessica Tenbusch for assistance.

The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site www.huroncountyruralschools.com or you may review a copy from the office at your child’s school.

For 2010-2011, Adams School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in reading and mathematics.  While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.

 

State law requires that we also report additional information: 

  1. PROCESS FOR ASSIGNING PUPILS TO THE SCHOOL 

In district pupils are enrolled automatically.  Schools-of-Choice openings, if any, are posted each year in May and January.  Students are taken through the schools-of-choice program until positions are filled or the deadlines have passed.  

  1. THE STATUS OF THE 3-5 YEAR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

We are in the first year of our 3-5 year School Improvement Plan.  The plan will expire in 2016.  The school improvement team will begin work on a new School Improvement Plan during the 2015-2016 school year. 

  1. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EACH SPECIALIZED SCHOOL

There are no specialized schools in the district. 

  1. IDENTIFY HOW TO ACCESS A COPY OF THE CORE CURRICULUM, A DESCRIPTION OF ITS IMPLEMENTATION AND AN EXPLANATION OF THE VARIANCES FROM THE STATE’S MODEL

A copy of the core curriculum is available from the Michigan Department of Education (www.michigan.gov/mde), from Adams School, or from the Huron Intermediate School District (www.hisd.k12.mi.us).  Adams School follows the state of Michigan core curriculum in all subject areas that are taught at the school. 

  1. THE AGGREGATE STUDENT ACHEIVEMENT RESULTS FOR ANY LOCAL COMPENTENCY TESTS OR NATIONALLY NORMED ACHIEVEMENT TESTS

Due to confidentiality concerns, this information cannot be reported in this format because of the limited number of available scores.  Individual student scores are available to parents upon request and are sent home once tests are administered.   

  1. IDENTIFY THE NUMBER AND PERCENT OF STUDENTS REPRESENTED BY PARENTS AT PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Adams School had 12 out of 12 students, or 100% of students represented by parents.  

 

The staff and school board of Adams School are proud of the accomplishments of the students we serve.  We will continue to strive for academic excellence in the years to come.
