School Annual Education Report (AER) Cover Letter
July 1,
2011
Dear
Parents and Community Members:
We are
pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key
information on the 2010-2011 educational progress for Big Burning School.
The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and
state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment,
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any
questions about the AER, please contact Mrs. Michelle Daniels for assistance.
The AER
is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site
www.huroncountyruralschools.com or you may review a copy from your child’s
school.
For
2009-2010, Big Burning School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in reading and
mathematics. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we
are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of
parents, staff and our community in this effort.
State
law requires that we also report additional information:
In
district pupils are enrolled automatically. Schools-of-choice openings, if any,
are posted each year in May and January. Students are taken through the
schools-of-choice program until positions are filled or the deadlines have
passed.
We are
in the first year of our 3-5 year improvement plan. The plan will expire in
2016. The school improvement team will begin work on a new school improvement
plan during the 2015-2016 school year.
There
are no specialized schools in the district.
A copy
of the core curriculum is available from the Michigan Department of Education (www.michigan.gov/mde), from Big Burning School, or from the Huron Intermediate
School District (www.hisd.k12.mi.us).
Big Burning School follows the state of Michigan core curriculum in all subject
areas that are taught at the school.
Due to
confidentiality concerns, this information cannot be reported in this format
because of the limited number of available scores. Individual student scores are
available to parents upon request and are sent home once tests are administered.
21 of
21 students representing 100% were represented at 2010-2011
conferences.
The
staff and school board of the Big Burning School are proud of the
accomplishments of the students that we serve. We will continue to strive for
academic excellence in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs.
Michelle Daniels
