On
June 22, 1907, Kipper School was established. At a special meeting
held at Sigel Town Hall, a $1,000 bond was approved for the purpose
of building a school. Also at this meeting W.H. Stanton was named
Director of School District #6, L. Jock was named Moderator of the
school district, and W.M. Jurgess was appointed to the office of
Assessor of the district.
The present-day school district has come a long
way from the traditional "Little House on the Prairie"
type school that is so commonly thought of when one hears the phrase
"one-room school". We are up-to-date with our technology
and the curriculum offered to our students. Students also have many
opportunities to participate in school sponsored activities and
field trips, as well as extra-curricular activities offered in the
community.
Kipper School currently has 9 students. We
employ one teacher and one paraprofessionals. We are also incredibly
lucky to receive the services from our dedicated traveling staff
members: a special education teacher, a Title I teacher, a music
teacher, an art teacher, and the support staff from the HISD (speech
and occupational therapy, psychology, etc.).
If anyone has any questions or would like more
information about Kipper School, please feel free to get in touch
with us. We would love to hear from you. We are also
looking for more historical information. If you can help us in this
search, please contact us.
